A Travellerspoint blog

reading...

...a quote from Madame Jeanne Guyon's autobiography (she was an incredible, spiritual woman who wrote countless books about prayer and seeking God for which she was arrested and viciously persecuted by the Church):

"He destroys that He might build; for when He is about to rear his sacred temple in us, He first totally razes that vain and pompous edifice, which human art and power has erected, and from its horrible ruins a new structure is formed, by His power only."

more pics to come when i venture out to the Old City either tomorrow or Sunday...today as i get over jet lag i'm reading a lot...and talking...Shabbat started at sundown and the entire city feels asleep...the sound of prayers in Arabic is sinuous outside the window...
