spent some time writing in the shade of one of the trees in Gethsemene. word is that these olive trees ("gethsemene" means olive press in Hebrew) are so old they witnessed that night before Jesus' crucifixion that he spent praying as well as his arrest.

to the right of the garden is the Church of All Nations, a beautiful edifice. spent time writing and reading in there...like for instance love this quote from Jorie Graham's poem "Other": All those years, before I became lost, I lived a different life. / One where you can go back. I thought each new / now, new / note, plucked from the as-yet-unpronounced, covered up a footstep / of the retreating God.
